Promotion of the Convention:
Sponsorship by George Mason University with support for media relations and event management. In addition, media partner is global satellite TV Channel I, whose promotional ad will be aired on NTV, STV, ATN Bangla and other satellite TV channels. Also, media sponsors include the award-winning, New York-based Weekly BanglaPatrika, monthly Porshi, and PriyoBangla that will carry Convention ads.

Demographic & Growth:
The average Bangladeshi-American is highly educated and is in higher income bracket than the average American.

Educationally, 66% Bangladeshi-Americans have college degrees, 43% have post-graduate degrees and 32% are professionals, mostly university professors and medical doctors.

Income-wise, the median income of Bangladeshi-Americans is 28% higher than average Americans or US$59,780 at end-2006. Over 20% Bangladeshi-American households have income exceeding $100,000.

The Bangladeshi-American community has grown exponentially since 1980 and attendance at different events has correspondingly increased. Bangladeshi-Americans are now estimated at 350,000.

Previous Convention and Expected Participation:
The first biennial Bangladeshi-American Convention was held in 2005 as a pilot at NREC Conference facility in Virginia with the participation of 350 persons, which received very positive reviews from participants.

With media partnership of a global satellite TV channel in 2007 and promotion in all major other satellite channels, we expect to attract over 7,000 people for BAFI Nite '07 at the 10,000 seats Patriot Center with well-known artists from Bangladesh and 3,000 people for the Convention.

Expected number of participants is not unreasonable given that we have access to over 7,000 households on our regular email list and a recent community event has attracted 5,000 participants. Coupled with the power of media promotion and the artists from Bangladesh, we are confident about reaching our target number of participants.
